The Tarana Hotel exudes everything a good bush pub should - character, history, friendliness, comfort and, most importantly, a great menu. The locals love it and the tourists do, too (scenic chopper flights land in the back beer garden). The menu is extensive and very kid friendly, including such local gems as the Tarana tiger burger, a tasty nod to the folkloric monster of local legend. We sampled the juicy rump steak and chips, and the fresh flathead fillet and salad with a side of garlic bread. We finished with locally baked cheesecake and vanilla ice-cream, the servings so generous they were almost another meal.
