This 1841 pub, among four on the main street, had a revamp in 1995, but the owners have plans lodged to do a heritage makeover within six months. Meanwhile, they have upgraded the bistro menu-wise, with weekly blackboard specials in the fine-dining range to complement the $10 special lunches and standard pub grub. The chicken, leek and mushroom pie feeds two and comes with fluffy mash, while the Atlantic salmon has a caramelised skin and is served on a bed of roasted pumpkin, spinach and tomato with a soy and butter sauce. Simple food, with a twist, done well.
