Fish & Chips | Every town on the coast has multitudes of fish and chip shops. The fish is always in batter and served with a mound of big fat chips. The fish are all deep fried unless you asked for it to be grilled. Depending on the season and shop different fish are available. Lashings of salt and vinegar are the usual accompaniment, although all other sauces are provided. Eat in or takeaway available at most restaurants. | Fish & Chips
Oysters | Fresh or cooked they are wonderful and washed down with a glass of local bubbles. They are a perfect Aussie memory. | Seafood
Potato Scallop | \"oh and I'll have a potato scallop too\" is not the most unusual thing heard at a fish and chip shop and one might think that chips would be enough potato to fill anyone's day. Thick slices of potato are battered and deep fried. Salt and vinegar or lemon juice is all that is needed to enhance the flavour or maybe a good dunk in tomato sauce is suitable too! | Fish & Chips
Calamari rings | Loved by kids and adults around the country as an additional part of their fish and chip order, calamri rings are on most fish and chip shop menus. They are always battered and deep fried and served with a fresh squeeze of lemon. | Fish & Chips
Seafood Basket | Can't decide what you want to order? The seafood basket is a great meal with a little bit of everything. Most shops sell them with calamari rings, fish cocktails, prawn cutlets and some chips. | Fish & Chips
Fishcakes | Homemade fishcakes are part of the menu in most fish and chip shops, with either cod or salmon in breadcrumbs. Mixed with potatoes and herbs such as chives or parsley, they are pretty tasty. | Fish & Chips
Mussels | You'll find mussels on all seafood restaurant menus throughout the country. We recommend trying them simply steamed with a glass of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. | Seafood
Seared Scallops | Another very popular seafood dish are scallops, which are seared for only a minute or so on either side, and then served on a bed of cauliflower puree or roasted cauliflower. They are also served with seaweed and a soy dip, following the oriental style. Usually a starter size portion, and can sometimes feature crisped pan fried chorizo instead of bacon. | Seafood
Lobster | Lobsters are very popular as long as your wallet can afford it! Tends to be expensive most of the year but people still love them. Usual way of serving is just simply grilled and covered in garlic and herb butter, but lobster salad with baby potatoes is also popular. Quite often only the tail is served and accompanied by prawns or scallops. | Seafood
Fish | Fish is a massive part of the Australian diet, unsurprising since most of the population live on the coast! You will find a variety of fish on every seafood restaurant menu with varieties such as tuna, barramundi, flathead and salmon, just to name a few. | Seafood
Roast Dinner | Not all Charcoal chicken stores will offer a roast dinner, but most will. It's a good choice when you don't want to have anything fried. Choose from Beef, Chicken or Pork add some potatoes, pumpkin, peas, carrot and gravy. If you skip the crackling it's a slightly more healthy alternative for fast food. | Charcoal Chicken
Roast Pork Roll | Sometimes you just can't go past a good old Roast Pork Roll. Take your choice of a large round or long roll, fill it with roast pork, crunchy crackling and topped off with gravy. | Charcoal Chicken
Potato Wedges | Potato wedges are larger pieces of potato with yummy seasoning are a great alternative to chips when you're looking for something different. Typically fried or roasted these treats go great dipped in sour-cream and sweet chili sauce. If your inclined, tomato and barbecue sauce work too. | Charcoal Chicken
Fizzy Drink | Most of the drinks served in fish and chip shops are the usual carbonated ones like coke, lemonade etc. | Fish & Chips
Champagne | Champagne and lobster go hand in hand at most of the seafood bars. Each restaurant will have their own house champagne but offering top class vintage champagnes as well such as Crystal and Louise Roderer. | Seafood
Gewurztraminer | An ‘off-white’ white wine, very light and a perfect match for seafood. Originally from the Alsace region of France, but now copied by other countries. Should not be expensive, and is similar to Sauvignon Blanc (another good choice with seafood) | Seafood
Fizzy Drink | Fizzy drink is typical in most Takeaway stores. You'll normally have a selection of Coke or Pepsi depending on what the store offers. If you look around sometimes drinks will come as part of a “Combo Meal” | Charcoal Chicken |
